In the photo above I've included an Igel M300C to illustrate that the UD5 series is noticeably larger than the UD3 series. The H700C is the core of Igel's UD5 (Generation 2) line of thin clients.
There is nothing on the hardware that indicates the date of manufacture but the Universal Desktop line was launched in January 2009

The H700C runs either Igel Linux(LX) or Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard (ES).
The IGEL H700C uses an external 12V supply with a conventional 5.5mm/2.1mm coaxial type connector. Although the label on the H700C gives the figures 12V 4A/48W (max) I find that the H700C actually runs with a modest power consumption of 15~21W. Naturally this will rise if you fit a PCI card or add other hardware.

Flash: The flash memory is easily replaceable. It is a Compact Flash card. There is also a 44-pin IDE connector adjacent to the Compact Flash socket that you can see in the top left of the photo. On the top corner of the board is a link J6 that switches the Compact Flash socket between being the master or the slave on the IDE interface.
RAM: The RAM is a single DDR2 SO-DIMM. The datasheet lists this as a DDR2-667 and gives the maximum size as 2GB. The 512MB part fitted to my H700C is actually a DDR2 533 part.
PCI: There is a PCI socket on the board plus right-angled riser so that a PCI expansion card can fitted within the H700C's case.
Parallel Port: Apparently a parallel port is available within the foot of the case. There is a 44-pin connector (bottom right in the photo) that provides the connector for this expansion.
USB: One thing of note with the USB ports. I found two of the sockets on the rear to be quite close to the plastic case. I couldn't plug my pen drive into either of these sockets as it was too wide.
