I have two examples of the HP T5720 (model: HSTNC-001L-TC) one was manufactured in February 2007 (product no: 398132-003) and one in December 2007 (product no:398135-003).

Mounting BracketIn the February 2007 model the embedded operating system is Windows XPe sp2 with 256MB RAM.

The unit requires a 12V supply. The label on the side panel gives a power rating of 12V 3.33A.
Flash: The Flash memory (middle lower left in the photograph) is easily replaceable. It's a DOM plugged into a standard 44-pin IDE connector.
RAM: The RAM is a standard 200-pin SODIMM. The one fitted is manufactured by hynix and is marked: PC2700S-25330 512MB DDR 333MHz CL2.5. The part number is HYMD564M646CP6-J AA-C.
CPU: Like the t5730 the CPU is socketed. In this case the AMD NX1500 is a Socket A (Socket 462) processor. The NX1500 has a TDP of 9W and runs with a core voltage of 1.1V. I have no experience of fitting an alternative CPU.
However Pawel Multan has experimented using AMD processors he'd recovered from old computers. Note: These replacement processors have TDP figures of over 60W so you'll need to think about cooling and a beefier power supply... Also they run with different core voltages (~1.6v). Not having tried it myself I'm not sure what BIOS options you have to play with here.

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ - AXDA2500KV4D running at 1.46GHz. Runs 100% (until it gets too hot!). Can watch videos on youtube on 480p."
PCI: There is a PCI socket on the motherboard that can be used in conjunction with a riser card and extension housing. (EK530AA HP t5720 PCI Expansion Module).
