This IBM Network Station 1000 (8362-A53) is a fairly ancient piece of technology (late 1990s) - so old I'm sure that there is little interest in it these days although it did excite some interest back in early 2000. I've had this one for a few years and I think it's about time I wrote it up.....

Specifications

There appear to be four basic variants:

Power Supply

The Network Station uses an external power supply connected by a standard 5.5mm/2.5mm coax connector. However it requires a 16V supply rather than the more usual 12V supply.

Expansion

Flash: There is a boot ROM on the board but no flash for a full blown operating system. The Network Station has been designed for network booting.

RAM: The RAM uses two banks of ancient DIMMs. The maximum amount of memory that can be fitted is 64MB (2 x 32MB).

Smart Card: There is a smart card slot.

PCMCIA: There is an optional PCMCIA interface that can be fitted to the Network Station.
