Fujitsu Futro S920: Using

Using

In April 2025 I heard from Matteo in Italy:

One of the best applications that I found for my Fujitsu Futro S920 (Made in Germany, designed in Japan) is that with its quad core fanless CPU it is capable of running the Daphile linux distribution at its best, transforming this thin client into a robust, affordable music transport system that can be connected to many USB DACs.

For the benefit of many (like me) who have never heard of Daphile:

'Daphile is an audiophile class music server & player OS - targeted to dedicated headless PC. It manages the bitperfect and gapless playback of common audio file formats including high resolution audio.

The S920 needs very few updates to show its real potential here: just another 4GB DDR3 SODIMM module (less than 10$ on amazon) and a decent power supply that guarantees sufficient power can be delivered to the external DACs via the USB 3.0 ports. I found that a notebook power supply (FSKE 65W 19V 3.42A) was a good choice to replace the original low power output PSU.

Wireless connection works flawlessly with a TP-Link Archer T2UB Nano.

Daphile supports both internal and external SSDs and also NAS storage.

I've put together over 10 of these Music Transport systems and they have worked flawlessly for the last year. As such I think this is an excellent solution for music/audiophile enthusiasts!
