Igel M250C Firmware

BIOS

I found the DEL key got me into the opening menu for the Igel 350C. This comprised five icons:

Igel M350C BIOS menu

which are labelled:

  • Continue
  • Boot Manager
  • Device Management
  • Boot From File
  • SCU

What they do is self-evident. In this context SCU stands for System Configuration Utility. Selecting that gets you into the usual BIOS setup screens. As far as running an OS the firmware is EFI orientated.

Boot Menu

Here I had plugged in a Sandisk 8GB USB drive formatted for UEFI booting. Selecting the Boot Menu icon brought up:

Boot Option Menu

EFI Boot Devices
  IGEL_EFI_2 (MB2908)
  IGEL_EFI_1 (MB2908)
EFI Embedded MMC Device 1 (MB2908)
  EFI Embedded MMC Device (MB2908)
  EFI USB Device (SanDisk)

↑ and ↓ to change option, ENTER to select an option, ESC to exit

SCU

Selecting the SCU option brought up the more usual sequence of BIOS screens:
Main/Advanced/Security/Power/Boot/Exit.

The BIOS identified itself as InsydeH20 Setup Utility. The 'main' menu screen is shown below.

In the Security section you can enforce/disable Secure Boot

In the Boot section you can enable/disable USB Boot. There is also a EFI submenu. This just lists the EFI devices displayed in the Boot Menu above. I'm not sure what this is there for. There is no way to select any particular entry or alter the order of the list.

I see no option for Legacy Booting anywhere.

Universal Desktop

As usual I haven't done anything with the native operating system.
