In December 2019 I heard from Goran who had added a hard disk to his H710C.
In October 2025 Peter sent details on using a mSATA and M.2 adaptor.

Using a SATA adaptor

The SATA socket in the H710C is mounted vertically on the motherboard and this does restrict you in what can be plugged directly into the socket. It is intended to take 'half slim' SATA SSDs whose dimensions are 54mm x 39.8mm x 4mm. Anything over the 40mm height will almost certainly end up fouling the thin client's case.

SATA Half Slim SSD

This 'half slim' style of SSD is intended for space-constrained devices and tend to offer storage capacities at the lower end of the spectrum, not an issue with thin clients that usually use devices in the range 4GB-32GB. It can be difficult to track down high capacity half slim SSDs should you want higher capacities.

Peter looked at a couple of alternatives from eBay that he hoped would fit in the H710 and solve his capacity problem.

The first adaptor was labelled as: Mini mSATA SSD To 2.5" SATA 6.0 Gps adaptor Converter Card IDE HDD For Laptop which, as the name indicates, would let you use a 30mm x 50mm mSATA drive. Unfortunately this adaptor turned out to be too high at 46mm and fouled the H710's case. However it might be an option in another thin client.

The second adaptor he tried, which came with a SATA M.2 SSD already onboard, was labelled as 64GB Half-slim III 6Gbps SSD Solid States Disk 6Gbps Hard Disk for Laptop. As expected this fitted the H710C (note the 'Half Slim' in the description) with the height of this adaptor being given as 37mm.

M.2 to SATA adaptor

Note if you are sourcing the M.2 SSD separately the SSD needs to be a SATA SSD.
