Disassembly
Disassembly is straightforward. The starting point is to undo the large knob
at the top of the rear panel. Having done that you can slide the top panel a short
distance to the rear, lift it off and put it to one side.
Looking inside you can see metalwork for fitting a 2.5" hard drive and a DVD
drive. This obscures the motherboard and the mSATA flash drive.
Looking at the metalwork you can see that it breaks down into two pieces. The basic
framework for a 5.25" DVD drive (or similar) and a carrier for a 2.5"
hard drive.
Pulling the catch at the rear of the carrier towards the front of the t820 lets
you lift it out of the chassis.
The carrier intended for a 2.5" hard drive removed from the t820.
This just leaves the metalwork support intended to hold a DVD drive or similar.
This is secured by two screws (circled) and a latch (arrowed).
Remove the two screws.
More detail of the latch that has to be lifted before the DVD mounting metalwork
can be slid to the rear and removed.
