On power-up the DEL key takes you into the BIOS. If you're prompted for a password the old Wyse password of Fireport still works on these modern thin clients.
The Wyse 5060 BIOS identifies itself as Phoenix SecureCore Technology Setup
My unit was running version 1.0A dated 09/06/2016. I decided to update the BIOS before going further. The words below reflect what I found with BIOS 1.0H (06/07/2018).
Things of immediate note under the Advanced Tab are:
Having disabled the secure boot option, enabled USB booting, a 16gb SATA flash in place but with a pen drive inserted the Boot Tab listed:
Anything you have connected that it recognises it will the name after the colon. In this example it has seen the pen drive which reports as 'SanDisk Cruzer Blade'.
You can also bring up a one-time boot menu without fiddling with the BIOS settings:
This brings up the Boot Menu. In my case it showed:
The cursor up and cursor down keys let you pick what you want to boot.
The Tab key switches you between the Boot menu and the App menu. In my case there are two entries in the App menu:
Using a cocktail stick or similar thin probe briefly press and release the push button. (BTW I did this with the power to the unit off. Whether this is necessary I don't know).
This should reset the default settings. Note: this doesn't clear the BIOS password, it just resets it to Fireport. You'll need to go to the appropriate BIOS screen if you want to remove it entirely.
