NB: There is an issue with the amount of Memory available to the OS depending on the size of the Video buffer. See the section Missing Memory under the Firmware tab.
I have a number of Windows examples here:
In September 2017 I heard from David Lagrange who was using a t610 'as is' with the embedded version of Windows 7 that came with it.
Initially he tried using it normally at home but had problems getting it to work with his printer. He then moved on to plan B.....
"I set it up to use as an HTPC. I connected it up to a 27" monitor and installed Kodi V17 on a USB Flash drive. I used the USB flash drive for Kodi to avoid trouble with the EWF filter and database updates.
All the media files are stored on an external hard drive connected to our internet router and are shared over the home network.
I use the HP ThinShell program to get the thin client login in user mode and to auto start Kodi in kiosk mode.
To control Kodi I'm using an old smartphone as a remote control via http command.
If necessary, I can quit the kiosk mode by using the ThinShell interface to:
- Browse web using Internet Explorer.
- Retrogaming via emulation (Nintendo).
It was really easy to do that project as everything was already out there and well documented. You just have to install and tune each application to get what you want.
It tooks me about 2 days to complete everything.
My next step would be to store the movies locally using an external hard drive connected to the USB3.0 interface.
