NB: There is an issue with the amount of Memory available to the OS depending on the size of the Video buffer. See the section Missing Memory under the Firmware tab.
I have a number of Windows examples here:
In March 2024 I heard from Mick:
Just a note to say I have managed to install Windows 2003 Enterprise on a HPT 610 using the AMD Radeon Graphics, SMBus, USB3.0 and Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet drivers provided for the XP install by Ian.
It runs nicely, only using about 183Mb of a total 1.5Gb found. CPU on idle showing 0-1%. The SSD gives very sharp performance when opening various OS applications etc for general management.
The purpose of this was to see if I could get Win2003 running on a low power device to act as a backup file server appliance. I have always had a home server running 2003, with inevitable hardware failures over the years, but backed up data on NTFS filesystems. I have moved all drives into USB3.0 SATA enclosures now but still have a desktop acting as a server with these attached.
I enjoy playing with these thin clients and have a mixed bag of Wyse Z90W, HP T610 & HP T520, mostly running some form of Ubuntu with web services on (ODK Central, Zabbix, Home Automation etc). This makes them very portable if you wish to move location and redeploy. One T610 sits at my stepsons (a property of ours) as an off-site backup server.
